Early Childhood Program
Your child's educational journey is rooted in a small welcoming Mercy community housed in the Parish Center
at St. Margaret Church in Madison. The aesthetically pleasing space reflects the program's
values and beliefs about children. The Early Childhood Team recognizes each child as a gifted individual who has innate abilities, potential and creativity. We promote an independence that fosters the Gospel values of LOVE and RESPECT for others in a developmentally appropriate environment committed to stimulating the child's intellect
and curiosity, and to nurturing the child's critical thinking skills.
Religion:
The child develops a relationship with God, a respect for others, and a reverence for God's creation.
Religion classes are conducted daily.
Project Approach:
Adapting the Reggio Emilia Approach, our early childhood team, integrates science, social studies, art,
music, and movement in an interdisciplinary approach. The teachers encourage the child to
collaborate, work in small groups, investigate, reinvestigate, and express ideas using various symbolic
languages.
Language Arts:
In a print rich environment that includes children's literature of recognized quality. The early learner
explores words, letters, and sounds.
Mathematics:
The early learner is introduced to the language of mathematics through a multi-sensory approach that
introduces concepts and provides opportunities for the child to work cooperatively to solve problems,
reason, think and communicate ideas.
Balanced Program:
Our program educates the whole child, spiritually, educationally and physically. The children have
physical education, music, French and technology.
