Program Description:

The Our Lady of Mercy School Extended Care Program will provide a safe, nurturing place of supervision for children in PreK-8th, where there are opportunities to reinforce learning from school, teaching social skills, encouraging citizenship, and have fun!

Your child will have the opportunity to have a snack, do their homework, and participate in several scheduled activities. This will include academic enhancement, creative play, arts and crafts, outdoor activities to enhance fitness, and free choice activities. The program is designed to encourage children to participate in games, engage in activities that encourage creativity and develop good citizenship to end their day on balance.

Break Time
The children will have a 30 minute window between the time school gets out to when homework time begins. Children can relax, have a snack, and then refocus on their work.
Homework Time
Children will be given the opportunity to work on their homework assignments in a supervised setting. We will provide a suitable homework environment that minimizes distractions. The goal is to provide an atmosphere that is conductive for everyone to complete their homework.
The Extended Care Curriculum will include:
  • Theme Days - Children will participate in special theme days where we invite students to join in a series of fun activities that are designed to open new doors of exploration and discovery. Your child can experience hands-on learning and be an artist, athlete, spy, and even an archeologist.
  • Community Service - Children will be able to participate in community service projects. Children will be invited to work together to give back to the community. Some projects will include knitting baby hats for Right to Life, making blankets for injured American soldiers as well as other community outreach programs. Participating in community service will allow children to build confidence, create a sense of power to make a difference, solve problems, and gain personal gratification.
